Microneedling 101
Microneedling is a treatment where the practitioner uses a pen-like device containing microscopic needles that can improve the skin on the face, décolletage (neck/upper torso) and abdomen. In many ways, Microneedling acts a highly effective anti-aging treatment.
How’s it work?
Numbing cream is applied to the target area to help keep the client comfortable. Hyaluronic Acid is gently introduced into the skin to promote Collagen and Elastin during the actual treatment. Post-treatment, Vitamin C Serum (which has remarkable antioxidant properties) is applied to the skin, helping to even out skin tone, improve wrinkles and expedite healing. While Microneedling does create a delicate “controlled injury” to the skin called micropunctures, it also kick-starts collagen production, a critical benefit of the process. The naked eye cannot see the tiny holes, they seal within a few hours. Treatments can be tailored to the client’s needs by using different serums. The client can experience some redness to the skin post-treatment which usually lasts only a few days. However, to play it safe, it’s best to schedule an appointment in between any special occasions/public events.
